Patient Process
UPMC Global Care is committed to providing every patient with access to the finest health care and support services. Regardless of the facility you choose for treatment, UPMC Global Care will work closely with patients and those accompanying them to assist with any housing, transportation, administrative, translation, religious, or cultural concerns.
To ensure the patient experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible, we provide special support in the following areas:
Hospitality Services
Prior to arrival, patients will be introduced to their dedicated UPMC Global Care Hospitality Manager, who is available 24 hours a day to assist with all non-medical needs.
Visa
To help get patients to their care destination, UPMC Global Care provides all the necessary information needed to secure visas and other required travel documents.
Transportation
UPMC Global Care will coordinate every stage of transportation that’s required to bring patients to our facilities and home again. During travel, comfort and safety are our primary concerns.
Arrival
Upon arrival, patients will be greeted by their Hospitality Manager, who will orient them to our facilities and identify all needs related to translation, diet, worship, and communication with those in their native country.
Care Delivery
Throughout their stay, patients will receive our highest level of quality care from our expert clinical teams.
Discharge
Upon completion of treatment, UPMC Global Care will work collaboratively to identify an appropriate plan for the patient's discharge and return home.
Postdischarge Follow-Up
After discharge from the hospital, the UPMC Global Care team will continue to stay in touch to follow up on the patient's recovery. In many cases, postdischarge follow-up care can be arranged at any of our facilities, including those in Ireland, Italy, and Cyprus.
